The Committee reviewed the current status of Warwick Center and James Hall programming. Mr. Fry noted that this program will go to Cabinet for approval on Thursday, March 6th. Mr. Davis discussed project slippage and the need to move the Friday Hall project forward since the projected completion time is now past the required end of all bond funded projects. Questions were raised about the need to keep the undergraduate Admissions Office on the front side of campus. It was pointed out that the Admissions tour now starts at Trask Coliseum and not the Admissions office. If the office is moved into the interior of campus, possibly the Swing Space building, then signage, reserved parking and adequate walkways will need to be in place to accommodate visitors to this office. If James Hall offices are moved to the Swing Space facility then there needs to be a count of offices that will need to be available when this move takes place. Significant relocation problems will occur when Friday Hall is renovated. At this point there is no place to relocate Friday classrooms and laboratories. The group discussed the need for certain administrative functions on campus. It was suggested that King Hall be used as swing space during the James Hall renovation project. Academic Affairs will investigate option. King would not need to be renovated prior to it being used as swing space. The renovation project could be moved back 12 months and James Hall project could be moved up to approximately April 2004. Since the Swing Space will not meet the campus relocation needs during the Friday Hall project, it was suggested that not linking this space to the renovation project would allow the Friday project to moved forward by an unspecified number of months.
