December 6, 2000 Meeting |
Attending: Rowell, Farley, Ragon, Hosier, Dodd, Fry, Kolodij, Boyd, D. Scott, T. Manning and Bianco
- This meeting focused on finalizing the facility construction and renovation plan to be presented to the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors at their December 8th retreat.
- Group provided background notes to be used during discussion at retreat.
- Mr. Fry agreed to produce a report that supported the graphical planning material.
- Mr. Fry proposed that a Process or Project Manager be hired to oversee the non-construction components of the bond funded projects. He suggested that this person report to the Chancellor directly or to himself. This person would work with the architect and the project managers in Mr. Kolodij's office to monitor project progress and bring back to the Committee any concerns about "slippage" in the plan. The Facilities Committee would be responsible for modifying the plan and recommending it for adoption by the senior officers. Committee agreed to this proposal and asked that this be submitted to the VC's at the retreat.
- The plan for technology infrastructure was modified to show more financial support available during the early part of the planning period.
- Dr. Hosier reported that the Dean Barlow had agreed to put a distance learning room in the new education building. If this takes place, then the space allocated to distance learning in Westside Hall can be vacated once the Education building is completed.
- Mr. Fry reviewed facilities related email he had received during the previous week.
