2000 Meeting |
Attending: Bob Fry, David Dodd, Paul Hosier, Roman Kolodij, Dave Girardot,
Carolyn Farley, Ty Rowell, Bruce Ragon, and Todd Manning
- Future Meeting Dates
- Committee will meet every Wednesday morning (7:30-9:00) till December
Holiday break or until work is completed on Bond related construction and
renovation projects
- Discussed use of New Centre drive facility - three VC's have approached
Bob Fry about using new space in this facility
- Academic Affairs needs 400 square feet for J-Net video editing company -
does environmental and ocean related editing - will pay for the space
- Information Technology Systems needs 600 square feet for several state
offices currently located on campus
- University Advancement needs office space for three individuals
- Remainder of space is not assigned or requested
- Mr. Fry requested that members bring additional needs to the table at
subsequent meetings
- all requests must be forwarded through
divisional representatives to the Committee
- Westside Hall
- Mr. Fry received request from Bill Vereen to use offices across from
entrance from Distance Learning Room - space vacated by Public Service
(Hunter, Woody, etc.)
- Mr. Dodd indicated that division had hired several new personnel and did
not have offices for them. He will review request with Mr. Vereen and
report back at next meeting
- Building expansion is on hold waiting discussion between VC Jordan and
Chancellor
- Redesign for building needs to be completed
- Expansion construction needs to be linked to renovation
- Distance Learning room to remain in facility due to high cost of moving
technology to another location
- Proposed temporary relocation of Research Administration to Westside
Hall
- Earliest date cited is February when remaining Public Service
personnel move to Landfall facility
- Mr. Fry is receiving some pressure to make this happen sooner.
- Drs. Hosier and Ragon will report back at next meeting on possibility
of making this relocation happen sooner

- Bond Related Construction and Renovation
- Guidelines
- No personnel will remain in a facility during renovation periods
- 3 potential staging scenarios for displaced personnel
- Move to off campus facility rented by university using monies from
bonds
- Place rented double-wides in a single location on-campus using
monies from bonds for rental and infrastructure costs. These
facilities would vanish once renovation projects are completed.
- Use an existing campus building as a staging area
- Problem of buildings not being completed on time and impacting
beginning next renovation project - may require a combination of several
of the above scenarios
- Discussion on guidelines will continue at next meeting
- Construction
- Decision to move "Performing Arts Center" up by one year to
2001 - advertise for architects in next few months
- Decision to follow existing schedule on "New Classroom
Building" - advertise for architects in next few months
- Decision to follow existing schedule on "Print Shop" -
advertise for architects in next few months
- Additional construction projects will be discussed at next meeting.
- Renovation Projects
- Mr. Kolodij presented a proposal on the bond funded "Computing
Center." He suggested that this facility be either directly
attached to the backside of Hoggard Hall or built in close proximity to
building. This facility could be used to temporarily house ITSD
personnel while Hoggard Hall is being renovated. Mr. Dodd will
discuss this proposal with VC Tyndall.
- Additional renovation projects will be discussed at next meeting.
