University Facilities

Facilities Committee

Minutes of the May 28, 2002 Meeting

Attending were Boyd, Beach, Davis, Dodd, Farley, Fry, Hosier, and Rowell.

Ms. Farley reviewed the schedule for University Union construction and renovations giving special attention to the space needed for relocating personnel during these projects. Burney offices last occupied by Communication Studies are needed by Dean of Students during renovation. Mr. Fry is planning to relocate Institutional Research in these offices due to space needs in Alderman Hall. There will be some overlap in IR and Dean of Students space needs by 2004-05.

Long-term status of the Institute for Political Leadership was discussed. Institute personnel are to be relocated in New Centre when Westside Hall renovations begin Spring 2003.

Business Affairs has asked that space be found for relocating the Financial Aid Imaging Center on campus as soon as possible. Reasons given for this request were related to security, management and audit requirements. At this point there is no space available to make this move from New Centre. Committee will continue to look for a location for this operation.

Mr. Fry reported on a proposal to move Institutional Research (see above) and University Relations to Burney Student Services building. IR will be making this move in early June. Discussion on relocating UR to this site is continuing.

Committee had a general discussion on the use of James Hall and Warwick Center. This discussion will continue during subsequent meetings.
