For High School Counselors

Dear Colleague:

As a high school guidance counselor, you understand better than most the many pressures facing high school students today.  A great example is the rising competition for students seeking admission to their institution of choice. Whether you represent students from California, Connecticut, or North Carolina, you are instrumental in the admissions process at UNCW; your advice and mentoring are essential in helping students make informed choices. In addition, guided by our goal to recruit and admit the most qualified students, we recognize you as an invaluable resource as we work to be consistent and fair in our decision making.

The University of North Carolina Wilmington will continue to increase our selectivity as we attempt to maintain conservative growth in our freshman enrollment.  This presents dynamic challenges in balancing our commitment to our regional constituency.

We believe the availability of timely and accurate information for our high school colleagues will improve the experience for our prospective students. Clearly, our relationship with you will become even more important in the best interests of your students and the future quality of our university.  We hope this web site is helpful and informative as we continue to work together in the future.

I encourage you to keep us informed of your needs and questions.  If you find that there is information that is missing from our site that would help you, or if you would like for one of our admissions representatives to contact you, please let us know. We would appreciate your candid feedback and insight into the perceptions of your students.

Lastly, on behalf of the University of North Carolina Wilmington please accept our sincere appreciation for your continued support. We recognize that you serve a constituency that may not always be realistic or appreciative of your challenges.  We look forward to working with you and continuing to build our relationship.

Best Regards,                                                                                                                                            Dr. Terrence Curran                                                                                                                        Associate Provost
