Admission Process - Non-degree seeking

Thank you for your interest in UNCW and our admissions process.

Please determine which category below best describes your academic situation. Specific requirements and procedures are provided for each category. If you feel none of these categories fit your circumstances, please contact the Office of Admissions.

Permission (Fall and Spring only)

Students from other colleges or universities, who intend to return to their home institution, may attend UNCW as permission/visiting students in the fall or spring semesters or summer sessions.  The university does not assume responsibility in determining a student’s course selection when such credits are to be transferred elsewhere.  Transcripts of work completed at UNCW must be requested through the Office of the Registrar to assure a record of academic work is sent to the home institution of the permission/visiting student.  Enrollment as a permission/visiting student from another institution in no way obligates the university to continue one’s enrollment at UNCW at the expiration of the permission/visiting period.  A student may only attend as a permission student for two consecutive semesters (not including summer sessions).

To attend fall or spring semesters, students apply as permission and must submit the undergraduate application and non-refundable application fee.  In addition, permission students will need to have an official transcript sent from the current or most recent college/university attended (a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 and 24 semester hours of college credit is required to be considered for admission as a permission student).  Applications must be completed and submitted by November 1st for the spring term and by May 1st for the fall term.
NOTE: Official admission decisions are only communicated in letter form via US Mail.

Summer Visiting (summer sessions only)
Summer visiting students (those currently enrolled at another institution) are allowed to attend classes at UNCW for summer session only. If you wish to continue your enrollment in the fall or spring as a permission student please refer to the section above. Former UNCW students (reenrolling) cannot apply as a summer visiting student.
