2009 Communication Studies Day
On Friday, March 27, alumni, students and faculty celebrated COM Studies Day. The department hosted alumni panels and a professional wardrobe fashion show. The day wrapped up with an alumni, student and faculty get together at Macaroni Grill in Mayfair.

Homecoming 2009 COM Studies Alumni Reception-
In celebration of UNCW Homecoming 2009, on Saturday, January 31, the Communication Studies Department (COM Studies) and UNCW Alumni Association hosted a brunch in Leutze Hall for COM Studies graduates. Department Chair, Rick Olsen welcomed the group and introduced Ashley Hanners, recipient of the Justin Thompson Communication Studies Scholarship for Enacting Social Change spoke about her experience at UNCW today. Alumni, faculty and students had a great time sharing stories and learning about the past and the future of the COM Studies Program.  Alumni toured the education labs throughout Leutze and were amazed by the new technology available to current COM Studies Students.  Many of the alumni visited the studio lab where they were filmed giving “COM Studies confessionals” to be recorded for years to come.  The confessionals will be shared with current students for editing and learning about the program.
