MAKE A YEAR-END GIFT TO UNCW
As 2003 draws to a close, you may be thinking of ways to lower your tax bill. One way is by making a year-end gift to UNCW. Although university offices will be closed Dec. 24-31, gifts postmarked by Dec. 31 will be counted as 2003 deductions. A contribution of $25 or more gives you status as an “active alumnus,” and your contribution supports alumni and student programs. For more information, please call 910.962.3626 or 800.596.2880, visit http://www.uncw.edu/uniadv/ or send your check, made payable to UNCW, to UNCW Advancement Services, 601 S. College Road, Wilmington NC 28403. Please note if you want your gift to benefit a particular program or department.

BOARD MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Donis Noe Smith The Seahawk Spotlight shines on Donis Noe Smith ’86, ‘94M who serves as treasurer and Finance Committee co-chair for the UNCW Alumni Association Board of Directors. Donis provides stellar leadership in regard to all financial and future investment issues that the alumni board addresses. She has guided the board through budget, calendar and retreat planning which lays the groundwork for our volunteer efforts. She has a bachelor’s degree in business with a marketing major. She holds an MBA from UNCW, as well. Donis has worked for Morgan Stanley in the Wilmington office since 1995 as a financial advisor and was awarded the Certified Financial Planner Certification by the CFP Board of Standards, Inc. Donis is married to another dynamo alumni volunteer leader, Alex Smith ’86, who gives UNCW support and recruits many others to do the same. Donis has one son, Nicholas, who is a student at Cape Fear Community College. Her family is raising two Lab puppies, Star and Mac, who bring many enjoyable moments into their lives. Donis is known by some as the “dancing queen”, having won that award at a past board event. She and Alex enjoy running together and traveling. Donis is a creative cook and enjoys time in the kitchen making gourmet dishes. Seahawk thanks to Donis for her volunteer support of money, time and talents.
