Kristen “Doc” Dunn ’97
announced that a $1,000 donation was made on behalf of the
Cape Fear Alumni Chapter to the UNCW Alumni Association scholarship
program. The funds were raised at the chapter’s 12th
annual Cape Fear Golf Classic held Nov. 7 at Echo Farms Country
Club. Dunn thanked the corporate “grand” sponsors:
American Home Mortgage, Bellsouth and Custom Specialties ATB
and recognized hole sponsors: Aramark, American Home Mortgage,
Rippy Auto Park, Carolina Residential Reality LLC, Stevenson
Honda, Seahawk Club and Wilmington Hilton. To join the golf
committee for next year’s tournament or for chapter
information, alumni can contact Dunn.

American Home Mortgage made a cornerstone
donation to the alumni association to provide scholarship
assistance for undergraduate and undergraduate students. The
gift was designated to the Patricia C. Smith ’72 Scholarship
fund. The announcement was made during a Nov. 16 luncheon
at Wise Alumni House. American Home Mortgage will be marketing
its mortgage programs and services to UNCW’s 40,000
alumni and will deduct portions of closing costs for UNCW
alumni clients, $100 of which will be donated to the association’s
scholarship fund. Additional donations to the Patricia C.
Smith ’72 Scholarship fund can be made by contacting
the Alumni Relations Office

Homecoming 2006 is planned for Jan. 27-29.

The annual Durham Bulls outing will be
held Saturday, April 22, 2006. Tickets to the cookout and
the game will go on sale soon. The chapter invites Triangle
area alumni to a social at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the
Ale House on Falls of Neuse Road in Raleigh. Chapter Leader
Steve Hailey ’92 thanks all alumni who participated
in the Habitat for Humanity project during the alumni association’s
inaugural fall alumni weekend. For more information contact

A social is planned in conjunction with
the UNCW vs. Wisconsin
Badgers men’s basketball game at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec.

Cape Fear
area alumni are invited to a social being
hosted by the Atlanta
Chapter Feb. 10-11. A bus trip is planned from Wilmington
to Atlanta for the UNCW vs. Georgia State men’s basketball
game.
Charleston
area alumni will be gathering at the Bull
& Finch restaurant and pub Friday, March 31, 2006. Interested
alumni are asked to contact Todd

Socials are being planned for alumni
living in the San Francisco and
Los Angeles, Calif., areas during spring 2006.

Commencement volunteers are needed for
the Saturday, Dec. 10 ceremony. Volunteers are asked to work
from 8 a.m. to noon. Duties may include collecting tickets,
passing out programs, seating guests and answering general
