Cultural Arts BuildingCULTURAL ARTS BUILDING INAUGURATION
UNCW celebrates the official inauguration of the Cultural Arts Building, the university's new academic, exhibit and performance venue for art, music and theatre, Thursday, Jan. 25 through Sunday, Jan. 28. The celebration will feature special performances and exhibits in each of the new state-of-the-art venues: the art gallery, recital hall, SRO (black box) theatre and mainstage theatre. MORE

The “Inferno” package includes a ticket to the alumni association’s awards banquet and scholarship endowment gala where the young alumna, distinguished citizen and alumnus of the year award winners will be honored. Men’s basketball pregame socials will be held Saturday, Jan. 13 when the Seahawks play Georgia State University and Homecoming, Saturday, Feb. 10 when the Seahawks play William & Mary. RSVP online.

ATLANTA - A pregame social will be held Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the Georgia State Sports Arena, where the Seahawks will play the Georgia State Panthers. Attention all School of Nursing Alumni: Dean Virginia Adams will be a special guest at the social. Make sure to sign up today to learn more about the new School of Nursing Building. The Wilmington College Alumni Chapter meets every third Wednesday of each month at Jackson's Big Oak BBQ.

alumni golf14th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 14th UNCW Alumni Association Golf Classic will be Thursday, April 26 at Magnolia Greens. You are invited to be a sponsor of this fun event. Proceeds will be used to support the Gerald Shinn Scholarship. Participants have a chance to win a 2007 Hummer from Rippy Autopark. Lunch will be provided by Chick-fil-A. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE
The UNCW Alumni Association scholarships, funded by alumni contributions, are awarded annually to full-time UNCW undergraduate and graduate students. The application deadline for the 2007-08 school year is Friday, March 16. You can help support student scholarships.

DONORS ESTABLISH 20 NEW SCHOLARSHIPS WITH $1 MILLION GIFT
Every academic department at UNCW now has an endowed scholarship, thanks to the generosity of philanthropists Mark Griffis and David Robertson. MORE

HODDER HALL OF MENTORS HONORS DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS
The UNCW Center for Marine Science has established the Hodder Hall of Mentors to honor Walter James Hodder and Katherine Hanson Hodder, volunteers and donors. MORE

TRUSTEES APPROVE TUITION INCREASES
The UNCW Board of Trustees approved tuition increases of $192 for in-state students and $220 for out-of-state students for the 2007-08 academic year. Fee increases totaling $46.65 for athletics, health services, student activities and transportation also were approved. The increases are within the guidelines set by the UNC Board of Governors in October. MORE

INTERCULTURAL WEEK FEB. 12-17
The Office of International Programs and UNCW Presents host the 14th Annual Intercultural Week and Festival, Feb. 12-17. Events are planned to celebrate the rich diversity of cultures within UNCW and the Wilmington community. MORE

Men's BasketballSEAHAWKS SCORE FIRST CAA WIN
Junior forward Todd Hendley poured in a career-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to give UNCW skipper Benny Moss his first CAA men’s basketball victory in an 80-66 triumph over visiting James Madison Jan. 10 in Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks snapped a six-game losing streak and won for the first time in the conference to improve to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in the CAA. UNCW concludes a two-game homestand Saturday, Jan. 20 when Georgia State pays a 2 p.m. visit in a game slated for live television coverage via Comcast SportsNet. MORE

LADY SEAHAWKS SUFFER 60-50 LOSS
Kyra Kaylor, reigning CAA Player of the Year, scored 19 points, shooting 7 of 14 from the field and pulling down 11 rebounds, to lead the William & Mary women’s basketball team to a 60-50 win over UNCW Thursday, Jan. 11. With the loss the Seahawks drop to 5-9, 1-2 CAA. MORE

Fresh off its fourth straight 40-win season, including a school record 42 victories and third NCAA Tournament appearance, UNCW enters the 2007 campaign looking to defend its second CAA title in three seasons. MORE
