Park and Ride

Park and Ride Zones

UNCW has two Park and Ride zones:Students riding the Shuttle

  • Park and Ride Zone 3
    • Consists of two parking lots, which are located:
      1. Across College Road at the intersections of Hurst, Hoggard, and St. James Drives.
      2. MacMillan Avenue, near Isaac Bear Early College High School.
    • Designated by the permit color Cherry.  Therefore, only permit holders with a Cherry permit number are allowed to park in this zone/lot, which is Cherry in color on the 2009-10 student parking zone map,
    • Student parking spaces are outlined by white lines.
  • Park and Ride Oleander Zone 4
    • Located on Oleander Drive.
    • Designated by the permit color Green.  Therefore, only permit holders with a Green permit number are allowed to park in this zone/lot, which is Green in color on the 2009-10 student parking zone map,
    • Student parking spaces are outlined by white lines.

These zones provide more than 600 spaces and feature a lower price tag than the full-time commuter permits, to compensate for their off-campus location.  Park and Ride permit holders are restricted to their assigned Park and Ride zone lots from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Friday.

You can still park on campus after 4 p.m. and on weekends with a valid parking permit.*   So when you're studying late at the library or attending an after-dark activity, you may move your car to a convenient campus spot.

*All parking on campus is by permit only. All permit holders are allowed to park in any non-reserved commuter, faculty or staff space on weekdays between 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. and on weekends. Commuter permit holders cannot park in resident zones/lots (designated by colors: Blue, Teal, Black, Brown and Gold) at any time. Rules concerning loading zones, handicap spaces, reserved spaces and fire lanes apply 24 hours a day.
