1.  What is my student campus address?


To receive mail to your UNCW campus box, it must be addressed as follows:

Student's Complete Name
UNCW Station - CB #_ _  _  _  _
601 South College Road
Wilmington NC 28407 -  _  _  _  _

CB# =  Campus Box Number (your mailbox number)

Use the last 4 digits of your campus box number in the UNCW zip code + 4.


* Please note that UNCW has been assigned a unique zip code for incoming student mail. This zip code, 28407, is to be included on all incoming student mail.


2.  What is my departmental address?


DEPARTMENT MAIL
All university departments should use the following address format for incoming United States Postal Service mail:

Special note for non-USPS shipments:
* Since private carriers such as UPS and Fed Ex deliver directly to university departments, these shipments must include the department street address, room number and contact name.

 

3. How do I know if I have a package?


Postal notices are written and distributed to a student's campus box for the following:

The first delivery notification is made by placing a delivery notice in the student's campus box. Notices will continue weekly if not picked up.  Second notices are made via e-mail to the student's official e-mail address; third notices are written and distributed to the student's campus box; and fourth notices are sent via e-mail to the student's official e-mail address. After the fourth notice, the student's mail will be returned to the sender, "unclaimed."


When picking up mail, please provide the postal notice and a picture ID (required) to the Seahawk Mail window in the Fisher University Union.

 


4.  What services can I receive at Seahawk Mail?

The Seahawk Mail center only accepts cash, checks with proper I.D., or UNCW One Card Seahawk Buck$. We are not set up to accommodate debit or credit cards at this time; however, ATM machines are located in the Warwick center breezeway.


UNCW departments may use Seahawk Mail for all of their shipping needs. However, departments must provide their fund number for each mail piece. Seahawk Mail delivers and picks up all incoming USPS mail and intra-campus mail to departments daily, dependent upon department needs and requirements.  Department mailing is for university business only.

 



5. What is the cost of using the fax service at Seahawk Mail?

6. How do I forward my mail or change my address?


You must come to the Seahawk Mail window or complete the online forwarding form to have your mail forwarded to your new address.

 

The mail forwarding form must be completed if a student participates in any of the following programs or if these certain situations arise in a semester:

Upon return, students need to notify Seahawk Mail and receive a new campus box assignment.


Students who graduate, or who will not return to UNCW, will have personal first-class mail forwarded for one year and magazines/newspapers forwarded for 60 days. To avoid the delays in forwarding mail, notify anyone sending mail to your UNCW campus box of your new address.


7. Are campus boxes (mailboxes) mandatory?


UNCW campus boxes are mandatory if

Other students are not required to have a campus box; however, they may rent a campus box if they prefer to receive their mail on campus. (See next question.)

 


8. Can I get a campus box (mailbox) if I am a grad student, a student seeking a second degree, a commuter student living off campus, or a university faculty or staff member?


Yes. Commuter students, grad students, students seeking a second degree and faculty/staff are welcome to rent a campus box at Seahawk Mail. Simply come to the Seahawk Mail postal window, and we will assist you in renting a box.

9. Why do I need a Customs Form to mail packages internationally?


Customs forms are required to ship any packages overseas in order for the package to clear customs. Customs forms are located on our Seahawk Mail service counter and need to be completed before your package can be mailed. Please ask a window clerk if you need assistance.


Customs forms may also be prepared and printed online before bringing your mail to Seahawk Mail. Go to http://www.usps.com/international/customs.htm#H1 to access the online customs form.

 


10. Where can I drop off my mail on campus?


The Seahawk Mail Center is located in the Fisher University Union on the first floor.


There are also U. S. postal collection boxes located throughout the campus where you can also drop off mail. Postal collection boxes are strictly for letters with stamps affixed and destinations off campus ONLY. Under no circumstances should mail that needs to be metered or intra-campus mail be deposited in the collection boxes.


Departmental intra-campus mail may be deposited in the special mail slot located at Seahawk Mail, next to the ADA window.

 


 

11. Does Seahawk Mail deliver parcels to the residence halls?


No,  for the safety of our students, all parcels are delivered to the Seahawk Mail Center, located in the Fisher University Union. Seahawk Mail notifies the students by placing notices in their campus boxes to come to the mail window located in the Fisher University Union to sign for and receive their mail. (Special assistance is available upon request for those with special needs)


 

12. What is the safest way to send monetary gifts?


Seahawk Mail recommends that you use checks or USPS money orders rather than cash when sending monetary gifts. Money orders can be bought or cashed at Seahawk Mail or any other post office and provide a safe way of ensuring that gifts are received.
