| Murphy serves as vice chair of the board, chair of the external affairs committee, and member of the executive committee and educational planning and programs committee. Murphy received her bachelor’s in elementary education from UNC Wilmington in 1993. She is an active volunteer at Harrells Christian Academy and works with the youth program at the Wallace United Methodist Church. She has served on the Duplin County Education Foundation and is presently serving on the Duplin County Community Foundation.
