Welcome to the Center for Marine Science website!

We are recognized as a national site for conducting research that contributes to understanding environmental processes and problems.  Through research, education andoutreach, the Center strives to increase knowledge and cultivate public awareness about the marine sciences.  Currently there are more than 100 active research programs ongoing at CMS.  You will find over 140 scientists, staff and students here at CMS in our 100,000 sq. ft. teaching and research facility located on the intracoastal waterway.

In the next two years our campus will grow to include a new 11,000 sq. ft. Oyster Research Hatchery project and 70,000 sq. ft. Marine Biotechnology facility.  That means we’ll have over 180,000 sq. ft. of research space dedicated to interdisciplinary marine science research.

Thank you for visiting our website!
