     Duties
          - Operations and QA/QC Supervisor, UNCW Aquatic Ecology Laboratory
         
          - Water quality analysis of silicate, chlorophyll a, phosphorous, ammonium, BOD, fecal coliform bacteria
         
          - Field sampling with motor boats and measurement of physical parameters on site using multi-parameter
               water quality probe

          - Conduct nutrient limitation bioassays, phytoplankton and zooplankton identification, quality assurance/quality control,
               data entry, manuscript writing and preparation, instrument calibration, cartography, and supervision of undergraduate
               research assistants.

 

RESEARCH INTERESTS
     Water quality of marine and freshwaters and marine and freshwater aquaculture.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Graduate Research Assistant, July 1994-May 1995, University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Department of Biological Sciences. Water quality analyses including water chemistry, physical parameters using multi-parameter water quality probe, fecal coliform bacteriology and field sampling. Performed nutrient limitation bioassays, phytoplankton identification, data compilation, and supervised an undergraduate assistant for the New Hanover County Tidal Creeks Project and The Cape Fear River Project.

Part-time Instructor, May 1994-Present, Carolina Ocean Studies, Carolina Beach, NC. Lead estuarine and offshore marine education field trips for high school and middle school students.

Official Biologist, September 1993-Present, South Brunswick Islands Chamber of Commerce, Shallote, NC, South Brunswick Islands Annual King Mackerel Fishing Tournament. Inspect fish for compliance with tournament rules.
