Patricia Comeaux
is Professor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington in the Department of Communication Studies.  Her teaching and research interests are in observing and examining communication and learning in institutions of higher education. In the last twelve years, her research has focused on communication and learning in online environments.  She served as an outside project evaluator for a number of distance education funded projects. In addition, she has published numerous articles on the topic of collaborative learning in higher education and the impact of interactive technologies on communication and learning.  She has two edited books on online learning: Communication and Collaboration in the Online Classroom: Examples and Applications (Anker Publishing Company, Inc. 2002); and Assessing Online Learning (Anker Publishing Company, Inc. 2005).  She teaches a variety of courses in the department, most frequently: Communication Training Development, Small Group Communication, Communication Theory, and Communication in Virtual Communities.
