The Adult Scholars Leadership Program brings news makers, opinion-shapers and regional experts together—discussing the history, challenges and promise of Southeastern North Carolina. 

Session Themes and Learning Objectives

Feb. 7:  Orientation, History and Media
Outline the program’s framework and expectations, historic profile of the region, and media resources.

Feb. 14:  Regional Growth
Focus on economic development and growth issues.

Feb. 21: Government
Understand local, state, and regional government; their interactions, issues and community impact.

Feb. 28: Law Enforcement and Justice System
Examine the primary strengths and challenges in meeting the legal, safety, and security needs of our rapidly expanding population.

Mar. 6:  Education
Address the issues, opportunities and challenges of educational resources across the life span.

Mar. 13:  Health and Human Services
Understand the primary components of medical, social, and wellness services impacting the overall health and well-being of our community.

Mar. 20: Cultural Arts and Institutions
Identify cultural assets and activities.

Mar. 27: Graduation

Sessions:  7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Graduation: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
