The following Developmental Profile Chart has been provided to help you select the camp that is most appropriate for your child. We understand that parents often want to make this decision based solely on their child’s intellectual maturity; however, a positive summer camp experience is based at least as much, if not more, on the child’s physical, behavioral and emotional maturity. Please help us help ensure that you and your child have a positive camp experience by following the guidelines below to decide which camp is most appropriate for him or her. If you feel that your child falls between two camp profiles, we will be happy to advise you on the best fit. Please call the MarineQuest office at 910/962.2460 to discuss the best placement for your child. If your child is eligible to attend more than one camp based on his or her age, please review the camp descriptions and activities and then make your decision based on:
- their ability to participate fully in all the activities
- their social maturity level in relationship to their age
- their ability to interact with campers older than themselves
By following the guidelines set forth in the developmental profile chart we feel that all campers, including your own child, will have the best possible experience.
Please note that should you enroll your child in a camp that is not developmentally appropriate as outlined in the chart, we reserve the right to reassign him or her to an appropriate camp should there be an open slot. If there is no slot open that week, you will be given an option to attend the appropriate camp another week. There will be no refunds.
