UNCW Division for Public Service and Continuing Studies

If your teen is tired of reading, writing, and arithmetic they just might want to try their hand at one of the four fields of marine science: biology, chemistry, geology, and physics. Each day of this exciting camp your junior scientsts will explore a different field using that great big outdoor lab we call an ocean.

Activities include:

Half-day research cruise; field trips to the beach, marsh, fouling station, UNCW Center for Marine Science, NC Aquarium and other marine facilities.

Highlights include:

Explore marine habitats by kayak and on foot; take a behind the scenes tour of the aquarium; learn how to map the ocean floor; participate in boogie board oceanography; do transect analysis while snorkeling; operate model ROVs; study sand castle physics.

Residential:	Sunday - Friday	see agenda below
Commuter:	Monday - Friday	8 a.m. - 4 p.m. pick-up on Friday is at 1 p.m., with presentations beginning at 12:30
Staff/Child Ratio:	1:10
Location:	UNCW Campus
Residential campers must arrive on Sunday by 3 p.m. while commuting campers join the camp Monday at 8 a.m.

The MarineQuest staff is more than happy to pick-up and drop-off campers at Wilmington International Airport - click here. If you need this service, be sure to inform us when you register.
• Linens are not provided - bring XL twin sheets, pillows, and blankets.
• Bring at least four towels for the week.
• Laundry facilities are available - bring detergent and quarters.
• No electronic equipment (other than cell phones) is allowed.
