DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY AND GEOLOGY

              The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for the position of Professor and Chair of the Department of Geography and Geology in the College of Arts and Sciences (http://www.uncw.edu/earsci).  We seek candidates with an outstanding reputation within the academic community; individuals with expertise in physical geography (especially in coastal settings), remote sensing, or natural hazards are particularly encouraged to apply.  Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to bring dynamic and innovative leadership to the department.  A PhD in geography is preferred; candidates with a PhD in a related discipline and experience with geography programs will be considered.  The successful candidate must possess a strong record of leadership experience; excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and the administration; a commitment to working with a diverse faculty; and a distinguished record in teaching, scholarship and research appropriate to appointment at the rank of full professor.
