Certificate in Professional Writing

A UNCW undergraduate student in any major may earn certification in professional writing by completing 21 hours of course work, including a writing internship (which requires a 3.0 GPA in your major). Courses include the following areas:

 

Technical Writing
Business Writing
Journalism
Writing for the Sciences
Computer-Related Writing

 

Skill in written communication is an invaluable asset for careers in the sciences, the business world, and the professions, and it is a key to career advancement. A graduate in any field who is also credentialed as a professional writer has greatly increased employability. The student’s transcript lists the Certificate along with degrees earned.

 

Requirements

 

Twenty-one hours are required to earn the certificate, as follows
