The Consortium for Ocean Leadership, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization, is looking to extend an internship opportunity to a dynamic college student pursuing an advanced degree in Education, a Natural Science, or a related field. We are looking for prospects who desire to build professional acumen and gain experience while they work toward their graduate degree. The NOSB Intern will have the opportunity to work in a multi-faceted nonprofit organization and gain focused, supportive training and professional experience in the field of science program research and support, as well as project management. The Intern will work with the NOSB staff in implementing and expanding the National Ocean Sciences Bowl program by assisting with competition questions, event and meeting preparation, grant research and coordination of the video competition.
Qualified applicants will posses a bachelor’s degree in Education, a Natural Science or a related field; excellent communications skills (written and oral); excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail; ability to work effectively within a team environment; strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and database management and internet research experience. Familiarity with ocean science or marine education is preferred. Reliable transportation is required.
This is a paid internship that will provide a minimum of a $1,500 monthly stipend.
Ocean Leadership represents 95 of the leading public and private ocean research education institutions, aquaria and industry with the mission to advance research, education and sound ocean policy. The organization also manages ocean research and education programs in areas of scientific ocean drilling, ocean observing, ocean exploration, and ocean partnerships.

Belize Protected Area Conservation Trust (PACT) - The PACT internship program was developed in June 2005 with the intent to provide assistance to local community based organizations (CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on key areas including project management, marketing & fundraising, natural resource management, proposal writing, community development, financial and accounts management.
PACT facilitates placement. If accepted, students are usually awarded a small stipend. In some settings, room and board is also provided. Travel expenses and current UNCW tuition must be paid by the student.

Tanner Center Intern - The Corps of Engineers operates an environmental education center situated near the dam of this beautiful 50,000 acre lake at the John H Kerr Reservoir located on the border of Virginia and North Carolina. Through this center the USACE runs a number of school programs and environmental interpretive programs for varying audiences. Positions to work with its Hunting and Fishing Program and Fish
and Wildlife Management team.
Operations/Outreach Positions responsibilities include: Hunting & Fishing Center Operations, public user control, coordination
of programs with military training, law enforcement dispatch and
support, environmental education, outreach, and public relations.
These positions will have extremely high interface with many thousands
of sportspersons and other public users, providing a great opportunity
to positively influence both the recreational experiences and the
environmental awareness of the public. Outreach project examples
include assistance to sportspersons and families engaging in hunting
and fishing, school and civic presentations, customer surveys, and
development of a “Landscaping for Wildlife” demonstration
project.
Fish and Wildlife Technician responsibilities include: All forms
of fish and wildlife habitat and population management. This is
a very active, field oriented position with great opportunity for
both gaining and applying experience in many types of fish and wildlife
management.
