City of Durham, Public Works Dept., Stormwater Services Div. - City Hall, Durham, NC.

Environmental Education Intern - Deliver water quality programs to summer camps and other groups.  Assist with summer teacher workshops.  Conduct study to determine effectiveness of new dog waste stations in parks.  Assist with office tasks such as scanning.  Qualifications:  Working toward bachelor's degree.  Understanding of basic issues affecting stream water quality.  Effective oral and written communication skills.  Ability to work creatively and independently.  Experience presenting to groups of students and/or adults. Field Survey Technicians - Mid-Coastal NC Area. Tasks include using a survey to interview and collect data from charter and headboat captains and their clients at various marinas in Beaufort, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach, Swansboro, Carolina Beach and Brunswick County. Anticipated hours are 5-10 a week. Work should be available from early May 2007 through April 2008. Pay is $9/Hr. plus benefits and a bonus for completed surveys. Training will be provided. Description:
Fort Bragg is recruiting Hunting & Fishing Operations, Public Outreach/Outdoor Recreation, and Fish & Wildlife Technician Positions to work with its Hunting and Fishing Program and Fish and Wildlife Management team.

Operations/Outreach Positions responsibilities include: Hunting & Fishing Center Operations, public user control, coordination of programs with military training, law enforcement dispatch and support, environmental education, outreach, and public relations. These positions will have extremely high interface with many thousands of sportspersons and other public users, providing a great opportunity to positively influence both the recreational experiences and the environmental awareness of the public. Outreach project examples include assistance to sportspersons and families engaging in hunting and fishing, school and civic presentations, customer surveys, and development of a “Landscaping for Wildlife” demonstration project.

Fish and Wildlife Technician responsibilities include: All forms of fish and wildlife habitat and population management. This is a very active, field oriented position with great opportunity for both gaining and applying experience in many types of fish and wildlife management.

The best applicants will join a great team of professional Fish and Wildlife Managers and Wildlife Conservation Enforcement Officers as they oversee hunting and fishing, manage fish and game, ensure military training compliance with natural resources and environmental laws; and enforce fish, wildlife, and related laws and regulations on a 160,000 acre military installation.

Our team is a close group of dedicated professionals that is serious about, but enjoys both our work and our relationships with our team, our peers, and our constituents.

Bald Head Island Conservancy, Inc. - Continuous
Environmental Education Internship

The Bald Head Island Conservancy Intern Program is open to rising juniors, seniors or recent graduates from any accredited college or university, with majors in biology, marine biology, environmental science, education, or a related course of study.

Bald Head Island is part of a 12,000-acre island complex (Smith Island Complex) located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River in southeastern North Carolina, and consists of three forested peninsulas interconnected by a continuous beach strand: Bluff, Middle and Bald Head Islands. Bald Head Island features an upscale residential community of approximately 900 homes, with approximately 220 permanent year-round residents. The southern tip of the complex is Cape Fear, and includes ten miles of ocean beach. The island is accessible by a private passenger ferry from Southport, NC.
