PURPOSE

The Brauer Fellowship is established to assist degree-seeking students currently enrolled in graduate programs at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and is intended to support extraordinary projects and activities generally not funded through other means at the university (i.e., the graduate school, GSA, individual departments, research grants, etc.). • Operation Homefront's Cinchouse Scholarship for Military Spouses- The scholarship award is offered to spouses of uniformed services members to attend a college, accredited trade school, certificate program, vocational school or community college. Thirty three scholarships are currently being offered. The winner of the Grand Prize Scholarship will receive $5,000. The scholarship funds may be used to assist with tuition, fees and books, and will be paid directly to the educational institution. • Scholarship opportunity for military veterans – The Fund for Veterans’ Education will provide up to $3,500 during the 2008-09 academic year to help meet the financial need of veterans from all branches of the US Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan or Iraq since September 11, 2001. http://www.veteransfund.org/ deadline June 15, 2008

• Embarq/ Major General David B. Baker 

  EMBARQ offers, on an annual basis, $1,000 college/university scholarships to military dependents of active duty personnel stationed at Camp Lejeune or MCAS, New River. Five scholarships are available to individuals who are attending, or accepted to, four-year colleges or universities. Details and Scholarship applications are available at the Guidance Department of area high schools, Coastal Carolina Community College, and the Personal Readiness and Community Support Branch of Marine Corps Community Services located in Building 40, the Russell Marine and Family Services Center on Brewster Boulevard.

              **Deadline for applications for the 2008-2009 college year is 31 Mar 2008.
