Resolution Honoring Molly Corbett Broad’s Five-Year Term  as President of the University of North Carolina
    (Motion 2002-Sep-#03)

Whereas Molly Corbett Broad has completed a successful five-year term as President of the University of North Carolina; and,
    Whereas
under her leadership enrollment at UNC’s sixteen constituent campuses has increased by 17,600 students, including growth in enrollment by minority students of nearly double the rate for all students; and,
Whereas more than 120 new academic programs have been initiated and over 160,000 degrees have been awarded during her term as President; and,
    Whereas
during her presidency external grant funds have grown by over $200 million dollars, leading to UNC’s rank as third nationally among public university systems in the level of external support; and,
Whereas President Broad led a successful campaign for the largest higher education bond issue in U. S. history, providing $3.1 billion for new and expanded buildings for North Carolina’s public universities and community colleges; therefore,
Be it resolved that the Faculty Assembly of the University of North Carolina commends President Molly Corbett Broad for her outstanding leadership of the University of North Carolina during a difficult budgetary period.
