| Motion: | 2003-Apr-#07 |
| Topic: | Making The Code accessible to the campuses |
| Proposed by: | Richard Veit |
| Disposition: | Withdrawn |
Whereas, The Code and other components of The Policy Manual are essential University documents referenced and quoted widely throughout the sixteen campuses; and
Whereas, The Policy Manual is regularly updated,
making it essential that one official, accessible version be posted for university-wide
reference
on the University's website; and
Whereas, Faculty Handbooks and other web documents on the
campuses have a need to provide links to specific sections of these documents—for
example,
to sections of Chapter VI of The Code, "Academic Freedom
and Tenure"; and
Whereas, The Code and other sections of The
Policy Manual are
now posted on the UNC site only in pdf format, making links to specific chapters
and
internal sections impossible and making the copying of specific passages
impossible; therefore,
Be It Resolved, that the Faculty Assembly urges the University
to post all sections of The Policy Manual, and The
Code in particular, online in html format, with anchors provided for internal
chapters
and sections.
The motion was withdrawn after Legal Affairs contacted the Assembly, announcing that The Code would be published in html format within two weeks. See The Code.
