Lizzy Irvin teaches lower-level Spanish classes, including courses in the Cornerstone Learning Communities and the School of Nursing.  She began La Mesa Española in spring 2001 to give students the opportunity to practice their Spanish skills outside the classroom.  Ms. Irvin actively supports the Latino community, regularly sending students to engage in service-learning assignments with community organizations that serve the local Latino population.  She has led students on study abroad programs in Mexico and Ecuador, and travels regularly to Mexico with community members.
