Additional requirements for the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)

Family Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Education Options

General Admission Information

• Official scores on the Graduate Record Examination
• Reference form for the Master of Science in Nursing

• In addition, the following required items should be submitted directly to the School of Nursing:
  1. Demographics form
  2. Writing Sample Instructions - Family Nurse Practitioner
  3. Writing Sample Instructions - Nurse Educator
  4. A current, unrestricted Registered Nurse License in North Carolina
  5. Two years clinical practice as a registered nurse with a baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
  6. Current resume or curriculum vitae

 

• Other application requirements:

1. A comprehensive invited interview with the faculty of the UNCW School of Nursing may be requested for applicants
2. Additional items as needed
   

RN to MSN Option

Students requesting this program of study will initially be admitted as a non-degree student.  Upon completion of required course work the School of Nursing will determine if the student will be admitted to the degree seeking MSN program.
