October 3, 2009/NCHA meeting/NCSU
Minutes
Beth Mulvaney (Meredith) called meeting to order at about 12:30pm and “installed” Larry Blanton (NCSU) as president. As host for 2010 meeting, Tim Holley (NCCU) is VP, and Kate Bruce (UNCW) is serving as treasurer/acting secretary.
By acclamation, we voted to increase the annual dues to $25.
Larry announced that NCHC will donate $200 to SNCURCS 2009 as per vote of support from members this summer.
There was discussion about SNCURCS and whether NCHA should meet concurrently. Decided not to.
Larry will check whether WCU is still up for hosting NCHA in fall 2011. If so, then we will meet there. If not, then we may reconsider meeting with SNCURCS in November.
Kim Leathers (Shaw) raised issue of how to education and
highlight honors on campus. We discussed
ideas for some strategies to help support academic affairs’ attention to health
of the
Leslie Sergeant-Jones (Appalachian) commented that we could help advertize what honors does/ what the perception of honors is. This could be a statewide effort.
All commented on the wonderful facility of the
PS. I will try to develop a table at SNCURCS for NCHA information.
