Dates and Deadlines

FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:

Deadline for fall admission with financial aid consideration: March 1

Deadline for fall admission without financial aid consideration: May 1.

Deadline for spring admission: November 1.

     Please note: These are hard deadlines . All required forms, scores, papers and application materials MUST be completed and in to the UNCW Graduate School by the above dates. Please manage your time and the mail accordingly.

FOR CURRENT STUDENTS:

This is information that might be useful to students currently in the History Graduate Program.

Spring 2008 Language Exam: 

      Friday, Feb 22, 2-3:30 p.m., Morton 212. Bring your dictionary

Spring 2008 Comprehensive Exams (Comps):

      Tuesday, Apr. 29 (Reading Day), S&B 221 (computer lab), 9 - 1:30 p.m.

Spring 2008 Oral Defenses:

     TBA as students contact me. April 10 is last day defenses can take place. This is a hard deadline.

Thesis Deadlines:

    Note: You should have a completed rough draft to your Thesis Committee members by the first day of the semester you plan to graduate. So for this Spring, your committee members should have a rough draft by early January.

Jan 10-Feb 29 – Work with thesis directors on completing thesis

Mar 10 – Last day to submit completed draft to your all members of your thesis committee

Mar 18 – Draft returned to student for correction

Mar 20 – Revised completed thesis draft to Graduate School w/Format Approval Sheet. Get draft           to thesis committee members, too With “format approval sheet.” Return completed draft to all committee members for their approval before submitting to graduate school.  Graduate school will assess format and suitability of manuscript for defense.

Apr 10 - Final day to conduct defense. This is a hard deadline. No exceptions. You miss it, you                graduate next semester.  *Don’t forget Thanksgiving Holidays.

May 7 - Final signed copies to Graduate School
