With this award, UNCW honors the contributions of faculty or staff who use their teaching, research, and/or service to foster an environment of global engagement.
Criteria
To be considered for this award, a nominee must be a full-time employee at UNCW with at least five years of continuous service.
Nominees must have made significant contributions toward implementing UNCW’s strategic goal # 4: Create an educational environment that prepares our students to be global citizens.
Such contributions might include, but are not limited to, any one or more of the following:
- Creating curriculum with a global content
- Directing and recruiting a study abroad program
- Maintaining an active global research agenda
- Encouraging students to become involved in global research
- Leading service trips abroad or coordinating local service efforts that have a global impact
- Initiating partnerships with institutions abroad
- Collaborative international programming
- Outstanding service to UNCW’s international community.
Nomination Procedures
Any member of the university community may nominate someone for this award by filling out the attached nomination form. Self-nominations are acceptable.
The nomination process is confidential.
Nominations are due by 5 p.m. October 15, 2009
The International Program Advisory Committee (IPAC) will review nominations and present a recommendation to the Assistant Provost of International Programs.
The recipient of the award will be formally recognized during International Education Week (November 16-20).
