The Office of International Programs (OIP) has created a Global Citizenship Student Award to recognize students who demonstrate a commitment to internationalization.
Steps:
- Faculty or staff nominate a student in a letter sent to Denise DiPuccio, Assistant Provost for International Programs. (Multiple faculty or staff may sign one letter but not send more than one letter. Hard copy or email nominations are acceptable.) Nominations are due by October 1.
- Nominated students will be notified that they have been nominated and will be invited to apply by October 20.
- Applications will be reviewed by the International Programs Advisory Committee (IPAC) and winner will be chosen by IPAC.
Application:
- Transcript
- One letter of recommendation. (In addition to the letter of nomination.)
- One written, visual, or performed piece that addresses the topic of “How UNCW has prepared me to become a Global Citizen.” (Any medium is acceptable. An essay, a painting accompanied by a description, a poem, a short film, a play, etc.)
Components of the award:
- $500 (The award will be credited to the student’s account.)
- A plaque or certificate
- A world atlas
- Recognition at a reception during International Education Week (along with the recipient of the Global Citizenship Award Faculty/Staff Award)
Runners up will also be recognized at the ceremony.
