Programs

The International Friendship Program consists of two programs, the Host Family Program and the Student Mentor Program.

Host Family

The Host family program matches interested exchange students with families in the Wilmington community. The host family and the student normally meet once a month and participate in activities determined by the student and the family. Students do not live with host families, but rather socialize with them occasionally. Host families range from young families with children to single, retired individuals; but all all host families desire to help international students feel at home.

If you're a student coming to UNCW you may Request a US Host Family.

If you're interested in hosting an international student you may Sign up to be a US Host Family.

Student Mentor Program

The Student Mentor program matches interested exchange students with UNCW students who act as mentors. The Student Mentors answer campus life related questions and assist students in getting adjusted to life in Wilmington. Student Mentors usually have an interest in your country of origin and/or have studied abroad themselves and know what it’s like to live in a foreign country. Student mentors may take students shopping, introduce new students to their friends, and in general, help new international students better understand UNCW.

If you're a student coming to UNCW you may Request a UNCW International Student Mentor

If you have completed one year at UNCW, you may Sign up to be a Student Mentor
