Client Technology Services has compiled recommendations below to help faculty and staff in the purchase of desktop computers and list what hardware Client Technology Services supports. Determining standards for computer hardware and related equipment is a responsibility of the Director of Client Technology Services and the Baseline Standards Committee.
University departments are not precluded from purchasing products other than those on the "supported" list, but products purchased after the date of adoption of this policy will NOT be supported by ITSD. ITSD has the responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the University's computing network and unsupported products will not be permitted to endanger the network's proper functioning.
Request for Exception from Campus Microcomputer Standards
Support Levels:
Full Support (F) - Installation of supported PC's or Mac's. Installation and configuration of TAC recommended supported software. Installation and configuration of supported peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, PDA's, etc. Hardware troubleshooting and repair. Disconnection and reconnection of PC's, printers, PDA's, scanners, ect. We will support the most recent Operating System version and one version prior.
Installation Only (I) - Reasonable efforts will be made to install and configure hardware CS has limited or general knowledge of.
