All About "Sammy"
To help faculty with file management, ITSD has created a central file server for users to keep their UNCW-related materials. This server is available from any computer on the UNCW network and from home if you are connected through VPN.
General Tips
Ensure data stored on the servers is current.
Remove data from servers that is no longer being used - either delete or archive to CDROM.
Be sure not to put any non-work related materials on Sammy
Storage Limits
\\Sammy\people - 500MB Default Limit
\\Sammy\departments - 5GB Default Limit
\\Sammy\departments\UNCW SHARE\Transfer This folder is used to place TEMPORARY files that may be too large for e-mail transfer. Once the receiver has the file copied to their hard drive the file must be deleted from the server. This location is NOT a storage area for files.
