When you are on campus and your wireless device is enabled, you will see two wireless networks: seahawkguest and uncwwep. The seahawkguest network is used by guests and allows access to the Internet through common Web ports. This network does not have access to UNCW resources. The uncwwep network is used by UNCW faculty, staff and students to connect to the Internet and university resources.
For instructions on connecting to uncwwep network, use the following links. Please choose your operating system for the correct instructions:
Please contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC) at 910-962-HELP (4357) if you have a different operating system than those listed above or if you are trying to use Banner on your laptop.
WEP Encryption Standards
- Short for Wired Equivalent Privacy, WEP is a security protocol for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs).
- WEP encryption does not rely on a single server to authenticate wireless clients. Instead, each Wireless Access Point (WAP) requires a key in order for clients to connect to the network.
