History of
the international conference series:
"Dynamical Systems and Differential Equations,"
organized by AIMS
This conference series is a biennial event which
provides, periodically, a forum for mathematicians and scientists worldwide, working in
the ever growing fields of dynamical systems, differential equations, and real-world
applications. In a relaxing environment, participants from all over the world report
research developments, exchange ideas, and discuss the trends and prospects of future
research. Four characteristics of this conference series make it outstanding:
(1) its broad coverage so that each participant can find numerous enlightening
talks;
(2) its well-organized symposiums which attract the best
experts in the chosen areas;
(3) its capacity of arranging each conference to take
place in a different region to benefit most people; and
(4) its being organized and backed-up by AIMS which
publishes the proceedings as added volumes of one of its journals.
The conference series was founded and has been organized, together with local organizers,
by Professor Shouchuan Hu. The first conference took place at Southwest Missouri
State University, Springfield, MO, USA, May 1996; The second at Shanghai Jiaotong
University, Shanghai, China, June 1998 (local organizers: Professors Weijiang Zhang and
Xiaoyun Ma); and the third at Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA, USA, May
2000 (local organizer: Professor Joshua Du). Conferences held in the United States were
financially supported by the National Science Foundation, USA.
The fourth conference (the fourth) will take place at the University of North
Carolina at Wilmington, May 24--27, 2002, to be jointly organized with Professors Wei Feng
and Xin Lu. |
