Traveling Waves and Shock Waves
Organizers:
Introduction:
Traveling waves and shock waves arise as important solutions of various
dissipative and conservative systems of partial differential equations.
These equations include models in many applied areas, such as fluid flow,
multi-phase flow, MHD, coupled neuronal networks, other chemical and biological
systems, optical fibers and material science. Great progress has been made in
the study of traveling and shock waves during the past ten years. The
talks will illustrate geometrical, analytical, asymptotic and numerical methods.
Topic include existence,
stability and bifurcation of the waves.
