The Center for Multiculturalism administers the Ralph Parker Scholarship. The Ralph H. Parker Scholarship was created and funded by alumni and friends of Ralph H. Parker, former director of the UNCW Office of Minority Affairs, to recognize his long-time service to UNCW. The scholarship is intended for any currently enrolled full-time UNCW student, is based on academic achievement and financial need. The recipient must have demonstrated the qualities of campus leadership as exemplified by Mr. Parker during his service to UNCW. Complete the Financial Aid and Veteran Services Office (FAVSO) web-based application to be considered.

AARP Foundation Announces New Scholarship Program for Women
The AARP Foundation announces a new scholarship program to help low-income women 40+ participate in education and training opportunities. Approximately 100 scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000 are expected to be awarded in the first round. The process opens August 31, 2007 at www.aarp.org/womensscholarship. Applications are only available online.
Priority will be given to women who are:
- returning to the workforce after an extended absence;
- underemployed (in a job with limited pay, limited growth
opportunities and limited benefits); or - grandmothers or other female relatives raising another family
member's child/children (with the ability to demonstrate
significant financial responsibility for those child/children).
The application deadline is October 31, 2007. Scholarship recipients will be notified in January 2008 and funds will be made available shortly thereafter.
