Marc Chesanow has studied with world-renowned soloist James VanDemark, Louis Kosma of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, James Clute of the Minnesota Orchestra, and others. Chesanow is a former member of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and was bassist at the Alabama Theatre (South Carolina) for five years. He currently performs with the Long Bay Symphony (South Carolina) and is principal bassist of the newly formed Oleander Chamber Orchestra. His orchestral arrangements have been performed by the Charleston Symphony and Long Bay Symphony, and others. An avid jazz musician, Marc has studied jazz bass with Rufus Reid, Michael Moore and Tim Goodwin, and jazz composition with Rayburn Wright and Bill Dobbins. In 1993, the University of Memphis quintet was awarded a Grammy in the Student Jazz/Big Band category; Chesanow performed on double bass for the recording. Chesanow has performed with many artists including Rod Stewart, Bernadette Peters, Isaac Hayes, Maureen McGovern, Eddy Arnold, the Marvelettes, Joel Grey, and the Moody Blues.
