Co-Founded by Dr. Johnson and Mr. Ackerman in the fall of 2003, this faculty ensemble performs both on and off campus for classes, demonstrations, and recitals. The quintet usually includes an exceptional student as the second trumpet player. With UNCW Senior Camp Horton, second trumpet. Recent Performances EVENING OF BRASS, October 13, Thursday, 8 PM, Kenan Auditorium on the campus of UNCW. As part of the semi-annual concerts featuring the brass students and faculty of UNCW, the Port City Tubas performed "Music 4 Tubas" by John Stevens. FACULTY RECITAL: A TALE OF TWO BRASSES , October 20, Thursday, 8 PM, as part of the Artist Recital Series in Kenan Auditorium on the campus of UNCW. Dr. Johnson and Mr. Ackerman performed solo and ensemble works on this joint faculty recital. As part of the program, the UNCW Faculty Brass Quintet performed Oskar Böhme's "Sextet for Brass Instruments" with the assistance of an outstanding UNCW student. __________________________________________________________ The quintet's repertoire includes works by Ewald, J.S. Bach, Cheetham, Renwick, Susato, and many others. Often featured in the UNCW Evening of Brass concerts, the quintet has also performed as soloists with the UNCW Wind Symphony and regularly tours area high schools.Video and Audio examples from recent performances
