Daniel C. Johnson is an Associate Professor of the Music at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. A frequent speaker at national and international conferences, he presents Orff-Schulwerk teacher education courses both in the United States and abroad. A multi-instrumentalist with over fifteen years of teaching experience, Dr. Johnson serves as the Chair-Elect of the Alliance for Active Music Making. He is also as the Chair-Elect of the Higher Education Committee for the North Carolina Music Educators' Association. As a performer, Dr. Johnson is the principal tubist of the Long Bay Symphony, and has performed with many other groups including the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, and the UNCW Faculty Brass Quintet. Dr. Johnson has published articles in numerous journals including: The Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, The International Journal of the Humanities, The Kodály Envoy, The International Tuba and Euphonium Association Journal, and The Council on Undergraduate Research Quarterly. His research and outreach projects have received grant funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Science Foundation, the North Carolina Arts Council, and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. The third edition of his textbook, Musical Explorations: Fundamentals Through Experience, is published by Kendall-Hunt.
