Lisa Castellino, Assistant Vice Chancellor

As Assistant Vice Chancellor, my overarching role is to provide strategic vision and support to the team to ensure we meet our goals and objectives. My daily work includes providing my expertise in survey research and analysis to key decision makers across campus. Other duties are too numerous to mention, however, all work towards the goal of supporting UNCW's Strategic Plan. Currently, I am an ABD doctoral candidate in Indiana University of Pennsylvania's Administration and Leadership PhD program and my research interests include organizational and systems theory.

Applications Analyst, Associate Director

As a member of the institutional research team for eighteen years, my responsibilities currently focus on supporting the assistant vice chancellor on project management, analytical, research, and writing initiatives within the scope of the office mission. Specifically, the types of projects in which I am involved include The National Study of Instructional Costs and Productivity, Student Perception of Teaching summary reports, the Fiscal Operation Report and Application to Participate, retention and graduation analyses, ad hoc requests from the administrative team, and national and university-wide survey initiatives including the Freshman, Sophomore and Graduating Senior surveys mandated by UNC General Administration, the National Survey of Student Engagement and its faculty counterpart, the Collegiate Learning Assessment, and the Higher Education Research Institute surveys of freshmen. My personal time is spent supporting the mission of Port City Community Church, "to reach people and help them walk with God," with my parents in WV and my daughter, son-in-law, and "grand dog" in Charlotte, watching Virginia Tech football, and gardening. I look forward to re-cultivating my equestrian and golfing interests in the near future.

My primary duty is to provide accurate data files (approximately 50 files annually) to General Administration, many of which are mandated by our State Legislature. Personally, one of my greatest pleasures in life is being with my family on Kure Beach.

I provide support for the office for pulling data from our campus information systems. Most recently, I have been heavily involved in writing code to pull from the new Banner Student and HR Modules. I also am responsible for several files reported to General Administration. I enjoy playing trombone in the Wilmington Big Band and the Riverside Eight.

Applications Analyst

After years of loving our visits to North Carolina beaches and dreading having to leave the area at the end of each vacation, my family and I decided we needed to relocate.  I am moving here from Pittsburgh, am an avid Steelers fan, but am originally from Erie, Pennsylvania.  I earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.  I switched careers after earning a Master of Science in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.  I have experience with many aspects of technology which I look forward to applying and expanding at OIR at UNCW.  At home I enjoy spending time with my family and being involved with church activities.

My position's primary function is to keep our office running smoothly. I perform computer projects as assigned by our Assistant Vice Chancellor, manage our budget & numerous duties as assigned. As the youngest of the team, I receive many helpful suggestions regarding life from my colleagues in OIR. At home, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends & pets.

An important part of my many responsibilities is the use of software which creates both paper and web surveys. Also, I scan the surveys, manage the data files, and occasionally perform data analysis. I maintain our office web site and report building and room data using MS Access to the NC State Facilities Commission. At home, I enjoy the solitude and beauty of gardening.
