New Sticky Note NIH Policy to Fund Meritorious Science Earlier

The NIH released a new policy that will enhance success rates of new and resubmitted applications. This new policy will help ensure earlier funding of high-quality applications and improve efficiencies in the peer review system. New Sticky Note UNCW Rapid Service Charge

Effective Oct. 1, departments requesting substitute paychecks for employees whose jobs have not been entered and approved in the system by the deadline will be charged a $50 rapid service charge.  The rapid service charge form must be completed and submitted to the payroll manager in Hoggard Hall, Suite 160 prior to the substitute check request being processed.  The form can be found on the payroll Web site: http://www.uncw.edu/ba/finance/payroll/payroll_forms.html. “Fundamentals of Successful Grant Writing:  Tips from a Funding Agency Perspective”

This workshop covers the essentials of writing successful grant proposals.  In addition to explaining the fundamentals of the grant process, Deborah De will also share valuable insights on what makes a successful grant proposal from the perspectives of a funding agency and proposal reviewers.  The workshop also includes information to help participants explore strategies for improving their success. 

Presented by:  Deborah De, Statewide Programs Manager, NC Biotechnology Center

As Statewide Programs Manager, Ms. De serves as the Science and Technology Development Program’s liaison to the NC Biotechnology Center’s Regional Offices.  She is also Program Manager for the Regional Development Grants and the Regional Exchange Group program.  Before joining the NC Biotechnology Center, Ms. De was Assistant Director for Pre-Award at Radford University in Virginia.  Her primary responsibilities involved working with faculty members in all disciplines on identifying suitable grant programs, idea development, proposal writing, and final submission processes.  She also developed and conducted grant writing workshops for the University community.
