    NORTH CAROLINA CITY & COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING

    The annual meeting of the NC City & County Management Association will be in Durham from 1/30 – 2/1.  The website with more details is:http://www.sog.unc.edu/courses/0627/index.htmlIf you are interested in attending, the registration information can be found on the website and the attachment. The registration fees vary based on membership status.

    Dr. Tom Barth will be driving a van up for the day on the 31st the main day of the meeting. If you would like to attend but didn’t want to drive, Tom is willing to do the driving.If you want to ride with Tom, those spaces will be allocated first come first serve basis.  You should contact me to reserve your seat.

    We will distribute a packet of UNCW -MPA resumes at this event. If you would like your resume included, please forward it to me no later than Monday, January 21, 2008 by 5pm (NO EXCEPTIONS). MPA alums are encouraged to submit their resumes too.

  • SPRING 2008 ADVISING & REGISTRATION
    Registration opens November 1 for current students.  Students should plan on meeting with advisors starting Monday, October 22nd to get your pin and to discuss your planned schedule for Spring ’08. A list of courses offered during the 2007-2008 school year is posted on this website (About MPA- Courses). If you plan to register for an internship/practicum for Spring ’08 submit your paperwork to Dr. Mark Imperial by Friday January 4th at 4:30 PMYou can download an internship form from this website (For Students - Internships - Graduate Form).

    NCCMA Scholarship Winner Announced. Congratulations to Ms. Michelle Shepard, this year's recipient of the $1800 NCCMA Scholarship. For more information about this scholarship, click on "Scholarships" under the For Students tab above.

    MPA Advisory Board Meeting. Friday, September 14, 2007, 8:00-9:30am at Halyburton Park. All MPA Advisory Board members, students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend. Breakfast will be served.
  • August 17, 2007
    MPA Welcome Back Social at the House of Barth. All new MPA students, returning MPA students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend a social at Tom & Sue Barth's home as we enter the 2007-2008 school year. Please feel free to bring your significant others and your favorite snack or beverage. Details and directions will be forwarded via listserv.
  • August 17, 2007
    MPA Orientation for new students and grad assistants is scheduled for Friday, August 17, 2007. Graduate Assistants' Orientation begins at 1:30 and will be followed by the new student orientation at 3:00pm.  For more details, click on "For Students" and follow to the "Dates and Deadlines" tab.
  • July 1, 2007 - DEPARTMENTAL NAME CHANGE
    Our department has a new name. Effective July 1, 2007, the Department of Public and International Affairs will become the Department of Public and International Affairs (PIA).
