I.     Purpose
   

The university hereby adopts this stewardship policy for donors in the belief that it is appropriate to thank those who have contributed to the university in support of students, faculty and programs. It exists to enhance their affiliation and continued relationship with the university.

 

II.    

Policy

      A.

General Policy – The university recognizes the private contributions of individuals, corporations and foundations to the university through a system of giving clubs and societies. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent of current IRS regulations

 

      B. Eligibility in the university’s Annual Giving Clubs is based upon the cumulative giving to the university during the fiscal year (July 1-June 30)


III.     Procedure
      A.

Following the close of the fiscal year, Advancement Services will prepare a report of giving highlighting the giving levels of each donor. UNCW Annual Leadership Clubs and Lifetime Leadership Societies eligibility are as follows:

  1. UNCW Annual Leadership Clubs and Lifetime Leadership Societies
  2. Annual Giving Leadership Levels

    $500-$999 Deans’ Club
    $1,000-$2,499 Provost’s Club
    $2,500-$9,999 Chancellor’s Club - Bronze Level
    $10,000-$24,999 Chancellor’s Club - Silver Level
    $25,000+ Chancellor’s Club - Gold Level

    ***Cumulative total of gifts made in one fiscal year (July1-June 30)

  3. Lifetime Leadership Giving Levels

    $100,000 - $249,999 Bronze Wilmington Society
    $250,000 - $499,999 Silver Wilmington Society
    $500,000 - $1,999,99 Gold Wilmington Society
    $2,000,000 + Platinum Wilmington Society

  4. E.L. White Planned Giving Levels

    Planned gifts of $25,000 or more

 

      B.

A Stewardship Plan for each fiscal year will be developed by the Director of External & Donor Relations, with approval by the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement. The Plan will be carried out by the External & Donor Relations Department pending funding approval.

 

IV.     Resources and Assistance
      Questions concerning this policy may be addressed to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement or the Director of External & Donor Relations. They are prepared to explain the policy and the procedures involved in stewarding university donors .
