Research: Counseling Psychology

The Counseling Psychologist provides individual and group counseling services to aid individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment. The Counseling Psychologist administers and interprets psychological tests designed to assess intelligence, aptitude, abilities, and interests, and analyzes the data to determine if counseling is appropriate as opposed to other specialists or institutions. Counseling involves helping individuals gain insight into personal problems, and helping them develop goals and a plan of action to achieve those goals. The Counseling Psychologist may also provide information to help the individual to develop realistic educational and vocational plans. Counseling techniques are evaluated to determine the validity and reliability of the treatment implemented.
