Preregistration for students currently enrolled for academic credit is held each semester for the following semester. Prior to preregistration, all students visit academic advisors and receive special instructions and preregistration information. Students submit a course program at an appointed time through the self-service registration system in SeaNet. Students who complete preregistration and pay fees by the designated date are registered, except in the event that they are declared academically ineligible, at the end of the preceding semester.
Registration occurs immediately prior to each term according to the schedule announced by the Office of the Registrar. This process is for students who did not preregister or are new to the university. Classes may not be added after the last day of registration and add/drop. Undergraduates may take up to 18 hours and graduate students may take up to 15 credits without special permission. Students who have a high cumulative grade point average may be allowed, with special permission of the appropriate dean, to carry an overload of semester hours.
After the last day of registration and add/drop, students may withdraw from individual classes through SeaNet, subject to the deadlines and conditions defined in their Catalogue. Undergraduates who intend to withdraw from all classes for a term must process an official withdrawal form through the Office of the Dean of Students by the deadline indicated in the university calendar. Graduate students who intend to withdraw from all classes for a term must process an official withdrawal form through the Graduate School by the deadline indicated in the university calendar.
