Tutorial 1

When you launch the "DATA" screen of the Data Visualization Tool the dialog box shown left is displayed. This dialog box prompts you to enter the parameters specifying the data you want displayed and defining how you would like it to be presented.

The dialog box is currently set up with the default settings for the DVT. These settings represent one choice that would be useful when displaying data related to the impacts of hurricanes on the Cape Fear River. Under these settings, water temperature, turbidity, and dissolved oxygen levels will be displayed for the 11 testing sites along the Cape Fear River over several years. Water temperature is shown through the color coding and turbidity and DO levels are shown with line graphs. The testing sites are plotted along the X axis (upstream to downstream flowing left to right on the graph).

The changes in parameters through time are displayed through animation of the graphed data. The animation displays data points for one month per each animation frame.
