Manual supplements
(The Self-Study Manual was intended to evolve and adapt as necessary.
These are policies and guidelines developed subsequent to the publication of the Manual.)
1. Guidelines to reporting units regarding Section 4.7 Student Records
2. Questions, developed by Subcommittee 5.2 Instructional Support, to help reporting units understand the scope of the must statements in that section. NEW: 5.2 Checklist, developed by Subcommittee 5.2 to tally the information submitted in the unit reports.
3. Clarification chart, developed by Subcommittee 4.9 on the distinction between consortial agreements and contractual relationships.
4. Checklist, developed by Subcommittee 5.3 Information Technology Resources and Systems, to guide reporting units in supplying the information needed by this committee. This is a more complete guide that replaces the previous “guidelines and questions” found here. Section 5.3 of the self-study report of the Mathematics and Statistics Department is a model that exemplifies the kind of information needed by the committee.
Manual errata
(There were a couple of errors in the printed version. These errata apply to the printed and pdf versions.)
1. On page 15, Kemille Moore and Janet Ellerby are listed as co-chairs of Subcommittee 4.8 Faculty. This is in error. Kemille Moore is the chair of the subcommittee and Janet Ellerby is the assistant chair.
2. On page 30, add “Anthropology Program” to the list of academic reporting units. Anthropology split off from the
(former) Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice in July 2000.
3. On page 30, change “Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice” to “Sociology and Criminal Justice.”
4. On page 30, change “Production and Decision Sciences” to “Information Systems and Operations Management.” This department’s name was changed effective fall 2000.
5. Update for page 56. The UNCW Board of Trustees approved the revised institutional mission statement at its July 2000 meeting, with one amendment. In the first sentence, “scholarship, artistic achievement” was replaced by “scholarship and artistic achievement,” so that the first sentence now reads:
"The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is a public comprehensive
university dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarship and artistic
achievement, and service."
6. On page 25, the budget amount for SACS travel in 1999-2000 should be $600, not $300. The totals are, however, correct.
7. On page 15, replace Aida Toplin, who has retired, with Raymond Burt, Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
