Bolton Health and Wellness Center

The Bolton Health and Wellness Center is a newly constructed facility that opened late October 2003. The Center, managed by the University of North Carolina Wilmington School of Nursing, is a partnership between the Towns of Bolton and Sandyfield, the Waccamaw-Siouan Association, the SE Black Mayor’s Association, UNCW interdisciplinary faculty, legislators, and local social services agencies.
 
Vision.

To promote health lifestyles and improve the quality of life for all citizens.
 
Mission.

The mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of Bolton Township and eastern Columbus County through partnership with rural communities, UNCW faculty and students, service providers, policy makers and funders. The Bolton Health and Wellness Center will strive to promote wellness, strength and cultural sensitivity.
 
Services.

The services to be provided include primary care, blood pressure and glucose screenings; depression screening; counseling; community problem solving; prescription assistance; health and empowerment education, physical exams, and referrals.
 
Staff.

Family nurse practitioner, social worker, and a medical assistant/billing clerk. Also interdisciplinary faculty from nursing, social work, gerontology, and sociology.

Directions to Center.

From Wilmington take Route 74/76 west toward Whiteville. After about 33 miles turn left on Route 214. After about 2 miles you will turn left on 9th Street. On the corner of Ninth Street is the Bolton Senior Youth Center and across the road the Bolton Post Office. The center is adjacent to the Bolton Senior Youth Center.
